Schuetz Tool and Die offers CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machining for your precision tooling needs. We utilize state-of-the-art software to allow seamless interface between engineering and manufacturing to provide greater flexibility and fast delivery.
CNC PRECISION MACHINING CAPABILITIES
- CAD/Internet - E-mail us your part files in DXF or IGES format, and we can quickly transform them into quality parts that meet your demanding specifications. And as always, we can work with your traditional blue-prints and other paper documents. We can also make A-D size plots of your electronic files.

- Reverse Engineering - Don't have a drawing of your part, only a physical model or prototype ot duplicate? We can measure your physical model, make a drawing per your specifications, and then produce the requisite tooling to manufacture your item.
- CAM (Computer Aided manufacturing) - We have the capabilities to meet a vast array of your potential CAM needs, from simple tool path generation to complete turn-key CAM solutions. If you already have CNC equipment but need tool paths created to cut your part, our CAM software enables us to customize a post processor to generate code that will run on your particular machine. Or, you can let us do all the work of designing, programming, posting, and machining your part. Let us know what we can do for you.
- Solid Modeling - As designers and engineers are relying more
and more on solid modeling, we have added Pro-ETM
to our list of software.
- Tooling - By utilizing CNC equipment, we can reliably machine dies and molds to meet our customer's requirements.
- Milling - With seven 3-axis milling machines (including five
Bostomatics), we have the capacity to meet our customer's delivery dates,
even on rush projects.
- Wire EDM - Our CNC Wire Electrical Discharge Machine (WEDM) Department allows us to cut complex parts which are impossible to produce on conventional machines.

ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE MACHINING
Seven sinker EDM machines and 2 wire EDM's allow efficient
machining and precision manufacturing of all types of tooling and precision
parts.

WIRE EDM MACHINING CAPABILITIES
- Dies - Our Wire EDM's allow us to machine blocks after
heat treating for cutting tight tolerance, complex contours that
are free from the distortion frequently caused by heat treating.
- Punches - However complex the shape, the Wire EDM cuts
close fitting punches with fine surface finishes.
- Molds - Intricate molds, even with taper, can be produced
efficiently out of normal or exotic mold tool steels.

- Templates and Gauges - Elaborate shapes can be cut accurately
and quickly without the need for costly grinding procedures.
- Die Repair - Rather than replacing a damaged die, some dies
can be welded up and then EDM'd to the original shape. Or, the Wire
EDM can make a tapered insert, thereby providing a cost-effective alternative
to making a new die.
- Prototypes - The Wire EDM can machine shapes that are impossible
to create with conventional machining.
- Splits and Slots - Because it cuts with a small wire, our EDM
can cut a slot 0.010" wide. We can split your existing tubes or shafts,
cut collets, machine burr-free slots in threaded shafts, cut internal
splines, or machine pockets and cutouts of virtually any shape or size.
- Cams - Do you have a special cam designed, but have no way
to accurately machine it? Just e-mail us a DXF file of your design,
and we can Wire EDM the part quickly and precisely.
- Taper - Our Wire EDM has simultaneous four-axis capabilities,
allowing us to produce a taper part - perfect for trim dies, punches,
or any other parts which require several degrees of taper.
- Electrodes - Graphite is just one of the many materials we
can machine with Wire EDM, giving us the capability to sink blind holes
with complex shapes.
- Jigs - The Wire EDM gives us added capabilities
to design and machine jigs to meet our customer's demanding specifications.
- Threads - Our sinkers have EDM threading capabilities.

TOOL ROOM GRINDING/CUTTER
SHARPENING
Schuetz Tool and Die offers tool cutter sharpening service.
With a combination of equipment and over 27 years experience in the grinding
business, we can provide our customers with an economical way to recycle
tools and cutters. If recycling is not needed, we also have the capabilities
of producing new cutting tools.

NEW DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
The Engineering Department at Schuetz Tool and Die consists
of two work-stations for tool and die design and new machine design. Three
dimensional shapes can be created by using the modeling capabilities of
Pro-ETM
and Anvil 5000TM software. The Engineering
department is directly linked to die manufacturing by downloading design
data to the CNC machining centers.
NEW DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
- Surface Modeling - By using the advanced surfacing capabilities
of Pro-ETM and Anvil 5000TM, we can
design the tooling to forge complex designs, ranging from hand tools
to automotive aftermarket.
- CNC Tool Paths - Do you have the design work done, but just
need tool paths? We can import your model, create the tool paths, and
post the code to run on our machines or the machines that you have in-house.
SPECIAL MACHINE DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
- Special Machines -Schuetz Tool & Die builds special machines
for automated welding, metal cutting, woodcutting, material handling
and processing. Our machines are built combining state of the art, off
the shelf components with traditional, solid machine building techniques.
- Solid Modeling - The dynamic capabilities of Pro-ETM
allows us to design your specialty machines or products with the flexibility
to make changes quickly. We can check for interference and run the machine
through its motions on screen before it is ever built.
FLOODWELDING FORGING DIES
Schuetz Tool and Die has the capabilities of floodwelding forging dies
in preparation for a resink or new die. We can also weld/repair most tool
steels.
We offer single source responsibility from design through floodweld and
sinking.
